Tyler Perry’s long-gestating third film in the Why Did I Get Married? franchise has officially been set at Netflix, with Perry, Taraji P. Henson and 14 new and returning cast members also starring.
The other cast members set for the film, titled Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again? are Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Lamman Rucker, Sharon Leal, Armani Greer, Everett Osborne, Da’Vinchi, Laya Deleon Hayes, Jaden Michael, Charles L. Smith, Derrick A. King and Sydney Winbush.
This will be Henson’s fifth film with Perry, following including the recent Netflix film, Tyler Perry’s Straw.
This third film in the Why Did I Get Married franchise comes after the original film, which came out in 2007, and the second one, which came out in 2010.
What is the plot of ‘Why Did I Get Married Again?’
The current description reads, “In the sequel, the couples reunite in celebration as Marcus (White) and Angela’s (Smith) daughter prepares to tie the knot. After being apart for quite some time, they learn quickly that as much as things change, they stay the same. Realizing their children have grown up to be so much like them, they must reflect on the examples they’ve set and ask themselves that age-old question, why did they get married… again?”
Perry is the director and writer, and he produces with Angi Bones and Tony Strickland. It is the latest film in his Netflix partnership, following films such as Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Destination Wedding and Tyler Perry’s Straw.

The first film was an adaptation of Perry’s play which follows four married couples as they reunite each year to go on a vacation.
