Muni Long, 33, shared she was supposed to do a song with Drake before he became the A-list icon but she decided to ghost the OVO artists for her boyfriend at the time.

On Wednesday, in a TikTok video, Long revealed her now ex-boyfriend was “jealous” of the two possibly working together in the studio. 

“That one time in 2008 I missed out on a Drake feature because my bf at the time found out he was pulling up to the studio and flew into a jealous rage so I chickened out and quit responding to his texts,” she wrote.

During an interview with Apple Music 1’s Ebro Darden in January, Long shed more light on the two’s work relationship revealing they connected in 2009 around the time of his freshman mixtape So Far Gone after he heard her cover of “Best I Ever Had.”

“I recorded a cover of ‘Best I Ever Had’ where I played it on guitar, sang it instead of rapped it,” she said. “That went viral so much that Drake reached out to me, and he was like, ‘Yo, I love what you did with the song.’ He gave me his number; we’re talking. Mind you; I’m just out of high school.

“And I was watching him on Degrassi when I was in middle school and high school. So I’m like, ‘Oh my God, this is Aubrey Graham. This is amazing! Wheelchair Jimmy.’ I remember talking to him back then, and he’s like, ‘Yeah, I’m an actor. I’m trying to get into music. I did this mixtape for Valentine’s Day. Didn’t really take it seriously. People love it. I’m singing. Lil Wayne wants to sign me,’” she added.

Drake nor Long have hinted at possible future collaborations. Before Long captured the essence of love in her smash hit “Hrs & Hrs,” she worked behind the scenes writing for several A-list artists like Mariah Carey, Rihanna, and Kelly Rowland.

The instant success behind the single stamped Long as an R&B powerhouse while earning a spot in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. Fans and fellow peers ate the track up using the sound byte over TikTok and Instagram videos.

The Vero Beach, Florida natives phoneline has been blowing up with pitches to collaborate since her hit record, but there is one significant artist Long regrets not collaborating with specifically.

 

 

In March, Long signed to Def Jam following the release of her eight-song EP Public Displays of Affection.

“It has been a lifelong goal of mine to be able to bring my gifts to the world,” she said in a statement. “This alignment with Tunji and Def Jam for a global takeover is a literal dream.

Long’s new single “Another” drops on April 12.
