Netflix’s October originals bring a mix of fantasy, politics, mystery, and high-stakes drama. The Witcher season 4 marks a bold new chapter for the Continent, while Nobody Wants This season 2 sharpens its witty take on modern relationships. The Diplomat season 3 blends international tension with personal intrigue, and Ballad of a Small Player dives into the intoxicating world of risk and reinvention. The Woman in Cabin 10 ratchets up suspense on the high seas, before A House of Dynamite closes the month with Kathryn Bigelow’s explosive vision of power and family ambition.
This month’s must-watch releases
‘The Witcher’ S4 (Oct. 30)
Geralt returns with a new face as Liam Hemsworth steps into the role of The Witcher‘s leading man. Season four, filmed back-to-back with the final season, promises a darker tone and a recast Vesemir (Peter Mullan). In the new chapters, the paths of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri diverge across a war-ravaged world, each facing threats, alliances and inner turmoil as they try to find one another again.
‘Nobody Wants This’ S2 (Oct. 23)
This rom-com ensemble returns with more relational messiness, awkwardness and emotional stakes. Nobody Wants This is known for its smart, biting humor and deeply flawed, relatable characters. In a Tudum cover interview, the cast is lauded as an A-plus ensemble that balances star power (Kristen Bell, Adam Brody) with the kind of grounded chemistry that gives the show heart.
‘Ballad of a Small Player’ (Oct. 29)
Colin Farrell headlines as Lord Doyle, a high-stakes gambler trying to outrun debts, secrets and his own past amid Macau’s neon haze. The film adapts the novel of the same name by Lawrence Osborne and is directed by Edward Berger. Farrell describes Doyle as someone “trying to escape his past,” but notes that the past is embedded in every cell of him, “he is, like most addicts… Narcissistic, and can only see the world through the lens of his own needs and his own desires.”
‘The Woman in Cabin 10’ (Oct. 10)
A tension-fueled psychological thriller, The Woman in Cabin 10 follows a journalist who boards a luxury cruise only to believe she witnessed a woman thrown overboard, and no one else seems to think it happened. It leans into claustrophobia, uncertainty and the terror of not being believed. The film’s mystery is built on isolating settings and unreliable perception, so you never know who to trust.
‘The Diplomat’ S3 (Oct. 16)
Keri Russell’s Kate Wyler faces the fallout of getting exactly what she wanted as season three “flips the chessboard,” showrunner Debora Cahn tells Tudum. With Allison Janney stepping in as President Grace Penn and Bradley Whitford joining the cast, the stakes are both global and deeply personal.
‘A House of Dynamite’ (Oct. 24)
Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, A House of Dynamite is a sweeping period drama that explores family ambition, betrayal and political intrigue in an explosive clash of power and loyalty. With her signature tension-driven style, Bigelow shapes the saga into a tale as operatic as it is intimate. Rebecca Ferguson, Anthony Ramos, Idris Elba and Greta Lee all star.
