Teyana Taylor is earning raves for her turn in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another. Her co-star and love interest in the film, Leonardo DiCaprio, is also singing her praises.

“I knew she’d be absolutely unpredictable,” DiCaprio told Blavity’s Shadow and Act in a recent interview. “She’s a fantastic actress. I knew her socially. And we needed somebody to improvise for this character. She needed to come in like a lightning rod. And as soon as I heard that Paul was thinking about Teyana, I was like, ‘That’s our girl for the job.'”

Taylor is getting Oscar buzz once again

Taylor’s acting profile has risen in recent years, and she garnered critical acclaim after starring in A.V. Rockwell’s 2023 film A Thousand and One. For that role, she received the Breakthrough Performance honor from the National Board of Review. She’s already getting Oscar buzz for her One Battle After Another role.

The film also stars Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn, Chase Infiniti, Wood Harris and Alana Haim. Directed and written by Anderson, it is produced by Anderson, Adam Somner and Sara Murphy. Will Weiske executive produces.

The film is loosely based on the 1990 novel, Vineland.

One Battle After Another currently has a stellar 98 percent on Rotten Tomatoes as well as a 96 on Metacritic. The film is in theaters this weekend
